All Texas attorneys are required to complete a minimum of 15 accredited CLE hours each compliance cycle. Texas has a 1-year CLE compliance cycle, so that means you need to complete your CLE each year. Your compliance deadline is the last day of the month preceding your birth month and your reporting deadline is the last day of your birth month.

Attorney Credits is a Texas Approved Provider, and all our Texas CLE Courses are pre-approved for Texas CLE credit. When you complete a Texas CLE course with us you get a certificate of completion along with the Texas Course Number so you can report if needed. We also report completed CLE courses automatically to Texas every Monday.

Minimum CLE Requirements

Every Texas attorney must complete at least 15 hours of CLE each compliance cycle. Of the 15, a minimum of 3 hours must be devoted to legal ethics or professional responsibility. Two months before the end of your compliance period you should receive an MCLE Annual Verification Report. If the report is accurate and you have completed your CLE requirements no additional action is needed. However, if it is inaccurate or if you still owe CLE, you must correct record by following the instructions on the report.

Compliance

Around the first day of your birth month, you can check your online record to make sure any changes have been recorded properly. If you are still short CLE credits you get an automatic grace period through the last day of your birth month to complete and report any outstanding CLE credits. Failure to complete them during your grace period will result in a fine.

If you remain deficient in your CLE, you will start getting notifications from the state beginning in the month after your birth month. After three months you will receive a final notice and finally after the beginning of the fourth month you will get suspended.
