Is Your Colorado CLE Due This December?

Review the latest in Colorado CLE requirements.

Colorado has a Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) requirement for all active Colorado attorneys under the age of 72. The requirement is 45 credit hours of CLE, of which 7 must be professional responsibility every three years. Your MCLE obligation begins on your date of admission to the State Bar of Colorado and ends on December 31 of the third full calendar year following your date of admission. Subsequent MCLE compliance periods are January 1 to December 31 every three years.

You must complete your Colorado CLE requirements by December 31, but you have until January 31 to report your compliance.

Of the 7 hours of professional responsibility, at least two must be in the areas of equity, diversity, and inclusivity. The remaining 5 hours must be in either legal ethics or legal professionalism.

One important thing to know about is that Colorado is a self-reporting state for attorneys. This means that you must report your own completion of courses to Colorado. Providers do not report completion of CLE courses to Colorado. Reporting is fairly easy (well somewhat, Colorado doesn’t have the easiest reporting system from the feedback we get from Colorado attorneys), just go here: https://cletrack.coloradosupremecourt.com/. After you get your certificate from Attorney Credits, go to Completed Courses and get the Colorado Course Number (you can copy and paste it) so that you can enter them into Colorado’s website.

You can only enter CLE programs that have been accredited by Colorado into your Colorado CLE transcript. The great thing about Attorney Credits is that we only offer pre-approved, accredited Colorado CLE courses. Therefore, you have nothing to worry about when taking our Colorado CLE courses because we get them all accredited.
