The Illinois Supreme Court has recognized that the legal profession’s challenges in the diversity arena and with mental health & substance abuse issues. To attempt to bring more awareness the Court adopted the recommendation of the Illinois Supreme Court Commission on Professionalism that Illinois attorneys take one hour of diversity and inclusion CLE and one hour of mental health and substance abuse CLE during each two-year reporting period.
IL CLE: Modified Professional Responsibility Requirement
Illinois attorneys are now required to complete one hour of diversity & inclusion CLE and one hour of mental health & substance abuse CLE during each two-year reporting period.
The MCLE Rule change went go into effect on July 1, 2017. That means that this new requirement begins with Illinois attorneys whose two-year reporting period ending June 30, 2019. If your last name starts with A-M you must complete the 30 hour Illinois MCLE requirement by June 30. For more information about Illinois CLE please click here: IL CLE.
