Your CLE requirement in New York depends on how long you have been practicing law. In New York, as in a number of states across the country, there are different requirements for newly admitted attorneys and experienced attorneys.

NY CLE – Experienced Attorneys

Those attorneys that have been admitted to the New York Bar for more than 2 years are considered to be experienced attorneys.[1]

Experienced attorneys in New York must complete a total of 24 NY CLE credit hours during each biennial reporting cycle.  A minimum of 4 of these 24 required CLE credit hours must be in the area of Ethics and Professionalism, and 1 hour must be approved for Bias, Diversity & Inclusion credit.
