Hey, do you practice law in Illinois? Well…. The Illinois MCLE deadline will be here before you know it! Is it your Illinois MCLE compliance year? How many IL CLE credit hours do you have to complete? When do you need to report your compliance?
How many MCLE hours are required?
Thirty credit hours every 2 years – including 4 required hours of Professional Responsibility, 1 hour of Diversity & Inclusion and 1 hour of Mental Health and Substance.
What is the new Professional Responsibility requirement?
All Illinois attorneys will be required to complete a minimum of 1 hour of Diversity & Inclusion and 1 hour of Mental Health and Substance Abuse. The rule change does not affect the total number of hours required to fulfill the Professional Responsibility requirement, which remains at 6. The total number of MCLE credits required in each 2 year compliance period also remains at 30.
How do I report the completion of my MCLE requirement at the end of my compliance period?
Illinois is a self-reporting state. All Illinois attorneys are required to report compliance, non-compliance or exemptions at the end of the attorney’s 2 year MCLE reporting period. You must report compliance through the MCLE Board website.
